How Long Do Furnaces Last?
Though the cold months are almost past us, it is still a good time to think about the quality of your furnace. Most furnaces these days last about 20 years max, depending on how well you take care of it with preventative maintenance.
Furnace Repair or Furnace Replace?
So, the question is, if your furnace is on the fritz, should I repair it or replace it? This depends on the age of the equipment. If your furnace is 18 years old, it might not be the right thing to try to repair it if it is on its last legs.
Now that we are starting to get warmer weather, this might not be on the top of your mind. However, it is a great time to start thinking about saving up for a new furnace. They can be a little expensive, and if you are in the situation where you think you are on the last season with your old furnace, then we definitely recommend getting a furnace replacement as opposed to a repair.
On the other hand, if your furnace is still pretty new, say 8 or 10 years old, then you should consider having a repair as they are much more affordable than a new machine.
