How can zoning make my house more comfortable?
Are there rooms in your home that never reach a comfortable temperature? If you have a large home you may find that there are rooms or complete floors that are either too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. A lot of our Akron/Canton clients ask us “How can I keep my whole home comfortable?” One of the ways we can keep the temperature even throughout your home is by installing a zoning system.
What is zoning when it comes to air conditioning and heating in your home?
Zoning is a heating and cooling system that uses dampers to regulate the flow of air through the ductwork of a house. By using dampers, you’re able to control the temperature of a large area.
Zoning is a great way to “zone” off sections of your home – giving you control of the different areas of your home. That way you can set your temperature to what is most comfortable to you.
How Can I add a Zoning System to My Home?
There are two ways to add a zoning system to your home. The first is with 2 pieces of equipment – one thermostat for each zone. The second way is with electronic dampers and solid state controls. With this option, you’re able to control the heating and cooling in your home with one piece of equipment.
To control the zoning in your home, you can have either a wireless thermostat or a retrofit zoning control. We do a lot with solid state electronics now that offer a single system of control.
If you’re building an addition onto your house and you think it’s going to spread the system too thin, we can zone electronically with separate duct work from an existing system or we can add a whole new system – allowing you to have a separate furnace and air conditioning for that section.
The nice thing is zoning basically gives you better control or better comfort throughout the whole structure.
