What is a heat pump?

What Type of Heat Pumps are there?
There are two types of heat pumps: an air to air heat pump and a geothermal heat pump.

Air to Air Heat Pumps
An air to air heat pump will extract heat from the air outside and deliver it to the house, but the amount of heat that’s available to the heat pump all depends on the temperature outside. Air to air heat pumps have some limitations. For example, say it’s 50 degrees outside – we have quite a bit of heat to extract from the air to heat our home, but when the temperature gets down to 10 or 20 degrees outside – not so much. Since there is less heat to pull from the air, the heat pump will deliver less heat your home.
Geothermal Heat Pumps
The second type of heat pump offered by Forquer Heating in Akron, OH is a geothermal heat pump.
With a geothermal heat pump we’re able to extract heat from the ground using a ground loop. The ground is an excellent heat source. Think about how much sun beats down on the ground during the summer. The ground is able to hold the heat quite a bit and is more of a dependable heat source to extract heat from, making it more efficient.
Geothermal heat pumps require a ground loop to be installed, raising priced on the front-end, but over the years the efficiency will pay for itself.
Another benefit of using a geothermal heat pump is less energy consumption. You can see in the illustration (to the right) how the geothermal heat pump works and how that maybe a more dependable and more efficient source of heat for your home.
Who Uses Geothermal Heat Pumps?
Majority of people who own a geothermal heat pump own a home with a lot of land.
